The rare beauties that are Blue French Bulldogs

French Bulldogs are all the rage amongst famous people. Some speculate because of their rarity which can drive the costs. Others of course just believe it is their amazingly cute smiles that go along with those flat snouts! Either way, the blue french bulldog is one of the more rare colors of the breed and are also becoming their own trend. Although they are cute and show worthy, they are not currently eligible for shows.

If you’re the type of dog owners that want to show your blue Frenchie on different shows and competitions, you need to know that Blue French bulldogs are not recognized by any dog breeder associations in the US. The white, fawn, brindle, and mixes of fawn and brindle are the only ones accepted. If a show dog is not your goal then this is not an issue. The blue color comes from a very rare dilute gene and is responsible for their coat changing color from black to blue/gray. It also affects their eye color which gives them the adorable blue eyes. A blue eyed blue frenchie is very much rare.

This does not seem to deter people from acquiring these rare beauties, so they continue to be a very sought after and highly expensive breed.

Blue Frenchies are very easy to train. Cleanliness is a problem with them though, although not intentionally. These dogs have issues with shedding, passing gas and drooling, so they can have some minor cleanliness annoyances. The Frenchie’s short coat sheds very little over time. Weekly brushing with a medium-bristle brush, a rubber grooming mitt or tool, or a hound glove will help to remove shed hair while brushing helps to promote new hair growth and distributes skin oils throughout the coat to help keep it healthy.

They are good apartment dogs because they are small and don’t bark that much, not to mention that French Bulldog Puppies are very cute and playful. So for famous people that live in apartments and travel a lot, the frenchies size also helps with portability. A lot of travel cases and carriers have size limits given by the airlines. Many people with blue french bulldogs tend to travel frequently. Not only that, some of them just love to have an adorable little dog to keep them company to help with with the anxiety of flying constantly. After all, these playful little pups know how to keep you company.

As you can tell, even though there are restrictions to having a french bulldog of this rarity in great dog shows, this doesn’t stop people from snatching these babies up for over a grand and falling in love with them fully. And you should feel okay doing it too if you have the pockets for them. They are incredibly adorable and just to say you have a rare breed gives them an added bragging quality. There are breeders out there you can easily google that dedicate their operations to breeding blue franchise specifically. So if you are in the market for a frenchie, just check around. Of course as stated before, make sure you aren’t planning on doing any major dog shows, but I’m sure you can still find some local shows to participate in just for fun!
